Dr. Maryam Yashtini is an applied mathematician and researcher specializing in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and optimization. Her work focuses on developing mathematical and computational frameworks that make AI systems more efficient, interpretable, scalable, and trustworthy. Her research spans applications in medical imaging, computer vision, large language models, and multimodal data integration.

She integrates advanced optimization theory with modern deep learning architectures to improve image reconstruction, disease detection, and reliable AI-driven decision-making. Her contributions to accelerating algorithms and enhancing MRI quality have received national and international recognition and have been featured in academic and media outlets highlighting advancements in AI and imaging science.

Prior to joining Georgetown, Dr. Yashtini earned three master’s degrees in Mathematics and Engineering, a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Florida, and completed three years of postdoctoral research at Georgia Tech.
