Accelerated MS Program

This applies only to Georgetown University undergraduate students.

Georgetown University undergraduate students are invited to apply to the Accelerated MS program in Mathematics and Statistics. Students can earn the MS degree in two semesters after completing their baccalaureate degree in their chosen major.

Students applying to the program should have completed Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra. Other courses in Mathematics and Statistics will strengthen an application. The application is usually submitted in the Spring semester of the junior year, adhering to the usual application deadlines. Interested students should contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies early in their junior year and should also discuss their plans with their Advising Dean.

Students begin working toward their MS degree while completing their AB/BS degree. Up to two courses are available for dual credit, i.e. they may be applied towards both degrees. No dual credit course and with a grade less than B may be counted towards the graduate degree. The dual credit courses must be selected from the set of core graduate courses, thus satisfying a subset of the ten required courses for the MS program. With careful planning, advanced students could take up to two additional MS courses in their senior year, which may be counted toward the graduate degree provided these courses are not counted towards the AB/BS degree. After completing the AB/BS degree, students in the Accelerated MS program become regular graduate students.
