PhD Institutional Funding

All admitted students will be offered a Graduate School Assistantship, which covers full tuition, health insurance, and a stipend ($38,000 for Academic Year 2023-2024). This entails serving as Teaching Assistants in their first year and as Teaching Associates in their subsequent years.

  • Students are eligible for institutional funding through their fifth year in the program, contingent upon reasonable progress towards the degree and good performance of teaching assistant/associate duties.
  • Students awarded a part-time status after completing the residency requirement will not receive funding from the program.
  • Students who have external funding do not qualify for institutional support. For instructional efforts beyond the second-year teaching requirement, such students will be paid according to the Georgetown Alliance of Graduate Employees (GAGE) rules.
